Twitter

Twitter basically means a series of chirps or high-pitched sounds made by small birds. It is a sharp sound that comes out when birds sing in modulation. Jack Dorsey has applied this concept of chirping of birds into a social networking site in a very innovative way. He has transformed the idea of bird’s chirps into text messages. This conversion has given a new attractive face to it popularly known as a micro-blogging site “Twitter”.

Just like a bird tweets in the morning now people can also tweet using this advanced blogging site. This application enables us to blog in short or to post small text messages known as “tweets”. One can post a 140 characters tweet that is exposed on the user’s profile and presented on the endorser’s profile, which are referred as “followers”. People can exchange short messages using the site or by SMS through mobile phones. The main features of twitter include adding friends and observing their updates, sending and receiving updates as text messages on mobiles.

Twitter is a very comfortable and easygoing site and one can utilize its simple functions in many ways. It can be used in group messaging where one has to send a message at one place only and everyone in the group gets the message. This is quite utile in overseeing a group of friends, colleagues, and many other people. As one can now accomplish a group conversation on the Internet and over the mobile phones simultaneously, handling a group of people is more comfortable. This has served as an effective tool in business management. Companies can use its versatility in many different ways. Its social aspect makes it very productive for marketing or as a promotional tool. It assists us to point interesting things on the web and to build credibility and to create influence. It can be used within the company to discuss or share ideas about the projects they are working on. Some companies are just acting like listeners to the tweets. They are keeping a track of other companies in the industry and collecting feedback on the product issues.

One can never imagine where a conversation may lead. Twitter has provided a sound platform for raising funds and collecting money for charity. It has given the opportunity to donate and spread happiness to the destitute. It can also be expended to create awareness about serious issues like global warming, H1N1 virus and various environmental issues. This helps people keep informed about the problems that the countries are facing and to educate them on how to retrieve it. It is also popular among prominent figures in arts, entertainment, politics and media. The frequent updates create a fan base cognizance for the celebrities. It has become a trendy way to earn personal connection with the famous personalities.

Twitter is creating a new wave in the ocean of social-networking sites. It seems like a new idea is generated but the intend is not established well. Twitter is an outstanding simple concept that is executed perfectly. However, some extra characteristics could be added to it to stretch out its usefulness. Twitter has become a fascinating face for a worldwide publishing program.

“Share and discover what’s happening right now, anywhere in the world…!”- www.twitter.com
Twitter created in 2006 by Jack Dorsey, is now almost 3 years old and its popularity is increasing day by day, has gained notability and not only that, it is ranked among 50 most popular internet sites worldwide by Alexa’s web traffic analysis . The original product name or codename for Twitter service was “twttr”, inspired by Flickr.
Now question comes-“what is Twitter?” Twitter is a social-networking(like orkut and facebook) and micro-blogging service(quick update usually by sending short text messages) which allows its members to send and receive short messages of 140 characters, popularly known as Tweets to their friends, family, business partners , etc,(source Wikipedia). Twitter is one of the simplest and most addictive social media tools, and its growing success has been both unexpected and in a way, inspirational. From Hollywood to bollywood to the world’s most famous personalities, Twitter provides a connection between celebrities and their fans.
Tweets are short messages which a twitter user can post in his profile and are delivered to its subscribers or better known as followers. While Twitter may have started as a free social-networking service, it is grown into much more than simply a tool to type in quick status updates and basically is a cross between blogging and instant messaging.
So this was all about what is twitter. Now next question comes “how does I Get Started with Twitter?”, first you need to create your very own account by choosing an appropriate username and password. After that you to sign in your account to where you can view Twitter’s current status. You can also delete your account if you don’t feel like to continue further with Twitter.
After signing in there are various things to start with, such as fill in your profile details, select your twitter picture, applying a theme to your profile with different profile colors, etc, not only this you can even share your albums, videos and music by posting them on various multiple networks.
Now when you through with this, there is another level of Twitter for which it is getting popular very fast i.e., sending Twitter updates and following other Twitter users. Various You Tube videos are there on how to send and manage twitter updates and following other users on Twitter in detail, one can refer to them for more information on this level. Apart from this you can even use twitter on your mobile phone (which should be GPRS enabled or have an access to internet).
Now, Twitter can be used for much more than announcing where you will party tonight. It’s true what Mr. Paul McFedries, an author of various technical books, has told:” Twitter is what you make of it” whether you publicize you daily activities or making just friend and linking love. But smart people use Twitter for business or to enhance their business, by sharing expertise to build credibility, by growing their network and by marketing their product and services.

Amethyst and Alexandrite

First let us put some light on, what is a difference between gem and jewelry. A gem or gemstone, also known as a precious stone, is a small piece of mineral which is quite attractive. This piece, when cut and polished is used to make a jewelry, which is a personal ornament, such as necklaces, rings etc. Jewelry is derived from and old French word “jocale”, meaning plaything, and is one of the oldest form of the body adornment. Many semi-precious and precious stones are used for jewelry such as Amber- which must be at least 1 to 10 million old to be classified as amber, Emerald, Jade, Alexandrite, Jasper, Quartz, and Ruby-the most highly valued precious gemstones, Sapphire, Turquoise, Amethyst, and the most commonly known and used gem is Diamond which were first mined in India. These gems are set into precious metal such as bronze-used in ancient times and gold, platinum, titanium, palladium or silver included in modern fine jewelry. Other common materials include glass, carved or tuned wood, shells, natural and polymer clay and even plastics. Now we shall talk about Amethyst and Alexandrite among all other gems.
Amethyst is crystalline quartz in shades of purple, lilac or mauve. It’s a stone traditionally worn to instill a sober mind. The name amethyst comes from the Greek which means ‘not drunken’. This name was given due to a belief that these gems would guard against drunkenness and would prevent intoxication.. It is believed that it will bring about pleasant dream if we put an amethyst stone under our pillow. It is been used to relieve headache by rubbing it across the forehead. Amethyst is a fairly hard gem and is the rarest form of quartz. It can be found in a crystal form or a mass. It is usually a prismatic crystal with six sides at either end and can be found within geodes across the globe. The medium dark purple amethyst with bits of rose coloring is the best one. Like other crystals, it has some important abilities that are responsible for its benefits. Amethyst has the power to focus energy so it is placed on the area of the body in need of healing. It is usually used for the problems in heart and lungs. Amethyst crystals are very beneficial to keep the air and life force in the home clean and to heal negativity.
Now we shall talk about another Gem known as Alexandrite which has a glamorous past. Its discovery was made in the Ural Mountains of Russia in 1830. It was named after Czar Alexander II, since the Russian imperial colors were red and green, on the occasion of its coming age ceremony. Alexandrite is a beautiful and a remarkable gemstone that has a surprising ability to change its colors depending on the light source. It is one of the most fascinating gemstone in nature. Because of its great absorption power of certain colors, alexandrite looks bluish-green in daylight and reddish purple in artificial light. This unique optical characteristic makes it one of the most valuable gemstone on earth. The more the change in color, the more valuable the alexandrite is.

FOREX TRADING

Forex trading is an international exchange market whose daily average turnover is more than 1.5 trillion dollars. The word “FOREX” is abbreviated as FOREIGN EXCHANGE and in broad manner we would say it’s a market where one currency is traded for another and this is done in the hope that one can make profits on any losses or gains in the movement of currencies.
The trade of currencies is done in pairs i.e., the currency which one buy’s in the belief that in future its price will rise, the trading term related to this is called “the long position” and the other to sell in belief that its value will fall in future and the profit is made by buying it back on the lesser value, and the trading term related to this is called “the short position”. The whole profit making in FOREX depends upon the movement between the 2 currencies which is not so high, so to make huge profits, one has to buy hundreds of dollars worth of currency at a time. Independent brokers and currency dealers make up a small percentage of FOREX TRADING but the major part comes from the banks, investment management firms and brokerages and according to The Wall Street Journal, the top ten currency traders which includes Deutsche Bank, UBS, HSBC, Barclays, etc., account for almost 73% of trading volume.
The trading can be done 24 hours a day except on the weekends, so it provides great opportunity for FOREX traders to work at their own conveniences. Due to its extreme liquidity and very high trading volume, the foreign exchange market is quite unique, but it said that FOREX TADING is not as easy as it seems so, and a person new to FOREX TRADING should brush up his skills before getting his hands wet.
